A quick history...
This family run business began between the wars in 1928 when Elijah and Agnes Mitchell bought the original Inverurie village shop. Their vision was to create a business that would provide a living for their 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Agnes and the girls ran the grocery shop and in time opened up the front room of their adjoining house serving teas and home-cooking. She became famous for her home-made oatcakes and the receipe is still in use in Mitchells' bakehouse today.
Meanwhile, Elijah and his three sons established a thriving dairy distribution business buying milk from local farmers and delivering it around the town of Inverurie. Domestic refrigeration and Pasteurisation was yet to come, so in those days milk was delivered twice daily to the townsfolk who came running out to meet the horse and cart and have their pails 
and jugs filled with creamy Mitchells milk.
Today, Mitchells Milk and Cream is still deliveried along with a wide range of dairy produce to doorsteps, shops, hotels, restaurants and workplaces throughout Aberdeenshire.
The Grocery Shop in Inverurie, now much expanded, offers an extensive variety of groceries and the best of local produce, home-made ready meals, deli specialities including cheeses and cooked meats, along with beers, wines and spirits from around the world. Mitchells is of course well known for its luxurious ice cream - try the Cranachan and 
Blueberries and Cream flavours!
The Tearoom, affectionately known as "The Dairy", continues to play a key role in the Garioch Community serving no-fuss home cooking and baking.

The Dairy Tearoom
The Dairy is proud to serve no fuss home cooking made with local ingredients. Delicious soups, main meals, cakes, scones and pancakes are cooked on the premises, providing a true taste of home cooking in a warm and welcoming environment.

Downies Fish Counter Now Open In Mitchells
Mitchells are pleased to annouce the opening of the Downies fish counter in our shop.
With more than a 100 year tradition of quality fresh fish; Downies select only the best of catch at local fish markets.

Monday to Saturday: 7.30am - 5.30pm
Sunday: 11am - 4pm
There is a large CAR PARK at the rear of the shop for customers and also free WiFi in the tearoom.
